MDBR Staff Writer Published 27 September 2016

Nolato has agreed to acquire Swiss firm Treff for an undisclosed sum.

Treff produces products for medical and self-care diagnostics, including in-vitro diagnostics and IVD.

The company also provides technically advanced precision components for various industrial segments.

Established in 1946, Treff employs about 190 people at its Degersheim facility in the canton of St. Gallen.

According to Nolato, the Treff’s sales are estimated at around SEK450m ($52.7m) in this year, with an EBITDA margin of around 11.5%.

The acquisition will enable to increase customer base and expand geographical operations of both Nolato Medical and Nolato Industrial.

The deal is expected to complete in the first week of October.

Nolato president and CEO Christer Wahlquist said: “The acquisition gives us a presence in the German-speaking part of Europe. It will open doors to a large group of new and internationally leading customers, particularly within medical technology, several of which are existing customers of Treff.”

“The acquisition is an important part of our growth strategy, and we are continually working to boost shareholder value by identifying companies that complement our offering, hold solid market positions and have a high level of technical expertise.”

Nolato is a Swedish group, which carries out operations in Europe, Asia and North America.

The firm produces products in polymer materials such as plastic, silicone and TPE for customers, including medical technology, pharmaceuticals, telecom, automotive, hygiene and other selected industrial sectors.
